When I first read Mary Oliver’s poem “Wild Geese” I fell in love with her work. I was 25 at the time and living a painful life. Her poems, balm to my soul during painful moments in my life. For my birthday, my sister/friend Summer gifted me “Devotions”. Her latest book. I am sad that we will never again be gifted with new poems by her. Her unique and authentic voice will be missed.
“Devotions” is a book from 20 different poetry collections she wrote in her lifetime. It ends with her last one in the early 2000’s.
I received this book as a birthday gift from my sister/friend Summer Clemenson. The opinions I express are my own.
