I usually love historical novels and I was excited when I first received “The Seamstress of Acadie” by Laura Frantz. I just could not get into this book. I hate speaking unkindly about a book. I am not sure if it was the story or the writing. It just didn’t seem to have the lackluster that others I have read have.
Here is what I liked about this book:
- I love that there are new words in a new language to me. She had a glossary of French words and what they meant. I appreciate this detail.
- I love the descriptions of Nova Scotia and Virginia the author put into it. I can tell she did her research of what it would look like in the 1700’s before America became America and early Nova Scotia.
This book is not for me. It could be for someone else. I am still glad I read it because I love learning new things like language, so I did not feel this was a waste of my time.

I was given a copy from Revell. The opinions I express are my own and I was not influenced.
