One of my favorite Bible stories is from Genesis. The story of Joseph is an epic story on pain, suffering, jealousy, trauma, and most importantly forgiving those who have betrayed you and rebuilding your relationship with those family members. In Jill Eileen Smith’s nearest novel “The Prince and the Prodigal” we go on this epic journey between Joseph and his brother Judah. It is powerful. I am still amazed how Joseph was able to forgive his brothers who kidnapped and sold him into slavery. He still loved God and he took it as an opportunity to use it to help others. Reminds you to look at your own story and see the blessings of the traumas you suffer and how you can use them to help you forgive those who have betrayed you and to heal from the pain and suffering. Most importantly how to use that pain and suffering to help the healing journey of others while you are walking through your own healing.
This is a great novel to get lost in during a pain day. I will be diving back into the Bible and re-reading the story of Joseph and his brothers in Genesis.
