I have always been fascinating with researching the history of witches and the burnings they endured during the witch hunt times. Books whether fiction or non-fiction pique my interest. Louisa Morgan novel “A History of Witches” tells the story of 5 generations of witches and what they endured because they were different. I find it interesting that history whether fictional or real women have been tormented, tortured, and killed because they exhibited powers that were supernatural, such as being able to heal, being able to connect with nature/animals, or see into the future with visions and dreams. However, when men have these gifts, men in the Bible have these gifts they were respected and held in high esteem. That has always bothered me greatly. This novel is well written and powerful. I can tell this book was well researched and the characters were well developed. I appreciate those things in a historical novel when I read them. Women should be respected for the powers they have just as much as the men. I hope that becomes more and more prevalent as time flies.
If you enjoy historical fiction and stories on witches then this novel is for you.
