I love historical fiction, especially those that are based on real people. In Jane Kirkpatrick’s latest novel, The Healing of Natalie Curtis this is such a story. This wonderful story takes you on a journey of a woman who loves music and discover the gorgeous music of the Native Americans. The said part is that the law prohibits them from singing their own songs or anything to do with their culture. Pack then, in the 1900’s we were jerks to the Ingenious people in America. Natalie Curtis fights for them, fights for them to have their fold songs known. While she is fighting, she is healing from an illness and scars of her own.
What I loved is that Natalie is focused on others while not being well and that helps her find her own healing. This is a fabulous story. Well worth reading and getting lost in the story.
