I respect and gain a lot of wisdom from reading Joyce Meyer’s books. Since reading my first one in 2010 until reading her latest Powerful Thinking I have been encouraged. That being said, I recognized that there are those in the Christian community who pass judgement on her and her teachings because they do not feel a woman should teach God’s words or that she is part of some doctrine that is from Satan. I am amazed by exaggerated truths and misconceptions about her. From reading her website, her books, and listening and watching her podcasts since 2010 I have a deep appreciation that she backs up her thoughts and opinions with scripture. She encourages her viewers and readers to study it for themselves. She is transparent about her past and about her ministry more so than most preachers. I respect that. That being said, here is my review of her latest book “Powerful Thinking”.
In my opinion, I felt like this book is s smaller version of Battlefield of the Mind. I am not complaining because I need to be reminded. The mind is a dangerous battleground and being reminded of God’s love and value of our relationship is key to staying strong and walking my path. By the way, Battlefield of the Mind is an excellent book if you ever get the opportunity to read it. What I love about Powerful Thinking is the small size of the book because I can carry it with me for doctor appointments. I have a ton of those lately and this is small and fits nicely in my hand. I love the small chapters and the scripture at the beginning of each chapter. I was encouraged and reminded on the tools I have in my arsenal to fight my battle in my mind. I believe anyone who has a chronic condition or conditions like I do would benefit from reading this book.
