I have been thinking about my goals and how I want my life to be balance and be a high valued woman. I saw this book on Amazon. I used to have Kindle but reading on my Kindle is hard on my eyes, so I changed to getting Audible. Atomic Habits by James Clear is the first book I got.

I have enjoyed listening to this book. I listen to this book while I am doing my skin care routine, while I am cooking, or late at night after waking up from being in pain or having a breathing episode and not able to get back to sleep right away. I can have the lights out and just hear the soothing voice of James Clear inspire me to make better habit choices.

Here are a few things that I have taken a way from listening to this amazing book:

  • Setting a goal is important but the most important part is setting habits that help you achieve the goal. You can have the goal but if you do not start doing the habits that will help you achieve it you will not meet the goal.
  • One of the tools Clear gives his readers is setting a time limit on the habit. The time limit is 2 minutes. If you can get the habit done in 2 minutes it will make it easier for you to stick to the new habit.
  • It takes 90 days for a habit to become permanent.
  • Another thing Clear suggests is to think about the types of people who have meet the goal you are wanting to accomplish. What habits do they do to be a great writer, or have that great body, or have great health, or who are financially secure, or who have a loving family life. Take the time to think about it and even maybe journaling about it helps you set the habits and to do them.

These are just a few gems that I got from listening to this book. I would like to encourage people to consider reading this book when you are wanting to have goals for your wellness because if you break that big goal done into the habits that will help you meet what your wellness goals it makes a big difference. For example, chose making drinking water a habit. Or choosing to not eat ice cream every night before bed and find a different habit you want to replace it.

There are a lot of great tips and tools in this book. I recommend it.
