For 2021 I decided that my Bible verse of the year would be Galatians 5:22-23. “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, patience, and self-control.” For January I decided to focus on Peace. The verse for January is Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace and be thankful.”
2020 has been a chaotic, messy, bloody, cruel, and paralyzing year for all of us. With the election, covid-19, and closing of our society it has been a strangled existence for all of us. I watched people that I love dearly from both sides of the spectrum attack and be vicious to each other. It broke my heart. I watched myself say things on-line that I would not in normal circumstances say and correcting others when they shared false information. It gave me a headache and a heartache.
Peace according to Hebrew means to be of sound mind. That is how I want my 2021 to be, to have a sound mind. I want us all to have a sound mind as we pursue 2021. That is what I will be praying for.
