In a few weeks it will be the end of 2020. It is time to choose a new focus word for 2021. After much consideration I chose my next word. That means it is time to evaluate my focus word from 2020. I chose Follow Through for this year. Let me tell you that it was not easy to follow through. I had to let go of many things because following through did not happen because of circumstances resulting from Covid-19 restrictions. I am going to start with the negative things that happened and changed.
I was not able to follow through with my goal of getting weight loss surgery in March because of the closures and cancellations of non-essential surgeries. I was disappointed. I did follow through with the milk diet and I was successful. The fact that I knew the milk diet was going to be hard and therefore, I chose to start the process out slowly until I had to have all my meals be milk or liquid helped me succeed. I think jumping in from eating solid foods is a mistake and those who are considering weight loss surgery and must do the milk diet should consider starting earlier by replacing one meal with milk and then at each week increase until you reach your start date from the doctor. That is my recommendation. It helped my mindset and it helped me to conquer this process. The fact that doing the milk diet was in vain is another story.
Because of Covid-19 my chemo infusions did not happen at my regular infusion center and therefore, I had to only get it once made it difficult for me. I am hoping 2021 will be a lot better when it comes to having doctor appointments. My counseling has been going well because we can have my appointments through Zoom. I am thankful that I have my own internet and do not have to use the public WIFI.
My blog suffered because I was so focused on writing for Wellness Works NW that I neglected my own blog. This is no one’s fault but my own. I am happy to report that I am now back on track and have come up with a plan for Wellness Works NW and Jamie Chases Butterflies that allows me to write posts for both. I will write more on this on my Focus Word for 2021 post that is coming up in the future.
The positives that came from choosing Follow Through include writing more effectively and consistently for Wellness Works NW. Seeing that although I may have moments where I have to take a weeklong break, I did not make it a month-long break. I was able to send articles to the editor and administrator consistently. I was able to organize my writing assignments for my blog and for Wellness Works NW too. I like being organized. This helped my mind be calm and not worrying about what I am going to write next because I have a slew of index cards that I can refer to with topics. I like that.
This year was tough. Covid-19 made it tough. Though it was tough, I was still able to accomplish things. I was able to read more books. Watch a lot of great movies and TV shows. I was able to organize things in my apartment. I was able to try new recipes and try new products. With the hiccups and all I believe I rocked my word of the year.
Did you rock your word of the year? What word did you choose for 2020?
