I enjoy reading historical fiction so when I was given a chance to read Bryan Litfin’s novel The Conqueror which is based on Constantine’s army rampage through Germanic lands I wanted to dive in. I don’t know much about Constantine’s goal of turning all lands into Christian lands so I was curious to read this book. At the beginning of the book Litfin explains his knowledge of the Ancient Church period as it is known. The battles were bloody, the trainings were hard and bloody and competitive.
This was not my cup of tea, but I can see those who love war type of novels will enjoy this. However, I was educated in the fact how hard Ancient believers fought for their right to follow Christ. It was a bloody battle, it was painful, and it was competitive.
