With all the chaos happening in my country, I live in the United States, there is so much pain, anger, fear, and my opinion matters more than your’s. I decided to step back and listen to what people’s opinions are on both sides, conservative and non-conservative aisles. I have friends and family members who are on both sides that are passionate and hard working. When I was offered an opportunity to read Senator Marsha Blackburn’s book “The Mind of a Conservative Woman” I decided I would read this book. Women’s rights is one thing that is important to me.
This is what I learned about Senator Marsha Blackburn:
- She is a hard worker. She has been working hard her entire life.
- I learned the importance of having a supportive family to achieve your goals, you are not an island.
- That no matter what side of the aisle you are on, both sides women are not respected well and they have to fight harder to get into the leader positions they get. I respect that about all women who achieve it.
- The back of the book where she mentions habits of life, she gave some great advice there.
One thing I learned from this book is that you cannot loop people in one box. Just because a woman is conservative doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to fight for women’s rights and that they deserve just as much respect as the left side of the aisle.
