I have been craving reading more fiction stories since the start of 2020. I love fiction book that take stories from the Bible and rewrite them in today’s language. Jill Eileen Smith took the story of Ester, one of my favorite stories and wrote it into a great fiction story in Star of Persia. I was captivated. She creatively shared the story of Vashti and other wives of Xeros and even the story of Ester and her relationship with Mordecai. I was captivated. I had a hard time putting this book down.
I love Smith’s writing style. Her words are elegant, clear, descriptive, and takes an arrow straight to this lady’s heart. I see that she has written several books with Bible stories as the theme. I will be reading them this year.
The story of Ester has always spoke to my soul, because she courageously with great respect, vulnerability, and strength faced the king to save her uncle and her Jewish heritage from being destroyed. I wish I had that kind of heart for God and His people.
If you are like me and love fiction novels that take books from the Bible then Jill Eileen Smith is the writer for you and Star of Persia is the book for you to pick up and get lost in.
