Favor means to support, approval, and an act of kindness that is beyond what is due to someone. In Joel Osteen’s new book The Power of Favor he explores God’s favor for his people that includes you and I.
If I am to be truthful, I had and still am having a hard time with favor and God’s favor in my life. I see it all over the Bible. Noah, Abraham, Joseph, and David in the Old Testament we can see had favor. In the New Testament we see Jesus, Mary, John, Peter, and Paul who has favor. I really appreciate Osteens attention to detail in providing where it could be found in the Bible when he references these people. From the previous books I have read by Osteen he doesn’t do this and I am appreciative that he included them this time around. I’m like referring back to scripture while I am reading a God centered self-help book.
Although, I’m still pondering Osteens thoughts on the Power of Favor it doesn’t mean that I didn’t like his book or respect his thoughts and opinions or insight.
I suffer from Chronic illness and although healing didn’t come in the way that I thought it would be. I have healed in other ways. And I think sometimes people forget that God can still say no and choose to take you on a different path that includes suffering. I really would have liked to have read what Osteens thinks of this side of favor. I believe that this point was not included and was missed.
