I have a confession to make. Praying is one of my struggles. I feel so awkward doing it. I often envy people who are bold and can just talk to God with such confidence, grace, humility, and eloquence. I crave to be able to pray like that. Why am I talking about prayer? Because I just finished reading Autumn Miles new book Gangsta Prayer.
When I first saw the title I was like okay, am I going to be reading about how to rap my prayers to the beat, thankfully that wasn’t what this book is about. Miles shares her knowledge about praying and how she overcame her timid prayer life through researching, knowing, and listening to God’s call.
Chapter ten spoke to me the most, mostly because it is about never giving up. Another confession, I have given up on ever attaining wellness with my trachial stenosis and my other autoimmune diseases that I have. In this chapter, Miles talks about being persistant and expectant with boldness and confidence in my requests. That will be something I will be processing through. One of my nieces is getting married in September and I am going to commit to praying for her marriage and family while I am still on earth. I want to stand in support of her and her husband to be. I think it is important that people pray for each other and not just for ourselves. I am starting small and as I gain more confidence I will become bolder I believe.
This is a great book to dive into if you want to become stronger in your relationship with God. Praying is the key way we communicate with Him and Gangsta Prayer is a great resource for learning more. Autumn Miles has a great writing style and a dynamic personality.
