I live with an illness that lives me with breathing issues and a body that hurts constantly, so when I saw the title Exhale in Amy Carroll and Cheri Gregory’ book my heart and soul said that I needed to read this book. I am a fast reader that changed when I started reading Exhale. I dived slowly, while savoring and processing through each chapter of this book. Chapter 17 hit me the hardest between the eyes. It spoke to this chronic babes heart the most. You probably can guess why simply by the title of the chapter “Live Open to Redirection.” Ten years ago when my trachea start closing up and I had to stop being who I was and relearn how to talk, walk, breathe, and even be in relationship with others it through me for a huge loop. I’m still struggling with finding new tier 1 goals as Gregory so beautifully puts it in this chapter. I’m still working on what my tier one, tier two, and tier 3 goals are by listening to Jesus and my heart. Yet, again I am reminded that God uses broken people to create beautiful pieces of His church. Some days it is hard to remember this. It is hard to remember when being poked and prodded and in serious physical pain.

I believe women who are chronically ill would benefit from this book. There are some thought provoking and soothing balm assignments at the end of each chapter. I am hoping to be well enough to start a Bible study and have this be the first book.
