I enjoy reading books about courageous people who with God fight a health crisis and learn so much more about God and themselves. In Darlene Zschech’s book The Golden Thread you learn a lot about her own journey with cancer.
The entire book is awesome, but I want to focus on her chapter on Strength in Weakness. For a long time I have been fighting my own battle with Wegners, RA, and Subglottic Stenosis and I have been feeling that I can be of no use to God or anyone because of them. Recently I have been battling with my own mind about what my purpose is and little things have been popping up everywhere to show me where I need to go. This book is one of those things. Just because your health is weak doesn’t mean you are weak and God can use you anywhere he wants to. It is hard to think like that when you see people healthy, bustling around getting life done and you are not. It gets rather lonely, and it depletes your self worth. I’m rethinking those thoughts and reminding me of what God says.
This book is a great read for anyone with a chronic illness and struggling with life decisions about there self worth and need to be reminded what God says.
