Spending time with God every morning is one of my self-care routines that I begin my day with. I use the Bible app mostly. I also enjoy devotional books one of those is Karen Moore’s new one called What a Great Word: a Year of Daily Devotions.
I love that it is one page and she does a sort of focus word for the day. I never thought of doing a focus word for the day. I have done a focus word for the year. I enjoy her writing and her authentic deep thoughts on scripture and God.
I know God has helped me through many painful both physical and emotional moments and it is important not to get our focus off of God. He will never forsake us and He loves us with an unconditional love that never fails. That is why I feel it is important to read uplifting, soul soothing things that inspire and keeps us focus on the truth. It is hard to focus on uplifting things when pain is intense, but I find it helpful for me to do to keep me pulling my hair out. Moore’s book is one of the books I would recommend to any chronically ill person.
