My day seems to go better when I spend time with God each morning. The days that I don’t, I don’t feel like myself. That is why I spend time with devotionals. One devotional that I just completed was Holley Gerth’s Hope Your Heart Needs. In this devotional Gerth gives us 52 reminders on how God cares for you. I need reminding a lot, especially when I am having a pain day or when things just don’t go the way I need them to. With my subglottic stenosis, RA, and Wegener’s I have days that making breathing a challenge or my pain becomes unbearable. There are also days that I just need to sleep and don’t feel rested when I do sleep. That is when I need the reminder that I am loved, that I am valued, and that God is with me to help me through my suffering.
This is a great devotional for the chronically ill person who needs the reminders and needs to focus on Gods love and not the physical pain. I recommend this devotional.
