A few months ago my sister gave me the Tree of Life version of the Bible. I was fascinated with how differently it read compared to the versions of the Bible that I have read my entire life. In Kathie Lee Gifford and Rabbi Jason Sobel’s book “The Rock, The Road, and The Rabbi” I was taken on a journey of seeing, feeling, and experiencing Israel the way Jesus did. I appreciate the insight Rabbi Jason Sobel gives in sharing such things as Jesus wasn’t a carpenter of wood, he was a Stone-Mason. That blew me away. I also liked that Sobel explains the different festivals, feasts, and other celebrations of the Hebrews.

I love that Kathie Lee shared her excitement and willingness to dive deeper into love of Jesus and diving deep into the roots of Christian history. I also appreciate her willingness to share her painful moments of losing her husband Frank.

I grew up in a Christian home, read the many stories, but in Gifford and Sobel’s book I look at the parables differently and with awe. Anyone who wants to go deeper this is a great start to the journey of being even more in awe of Jesus.
