I enjoy reading stories of people who triumph despite their medical challenges and Scott Hamilton is one of these people. He has endured a lot of challenges. In his book Finish First he shares what some of those challenges are and gives us first hand insight into how to become champions and win.
There are two chapters in Hamilton’s book that spoke to my heart, Chapter 6: Overcome Your Limitations and Chapter 8: Ditch Fear and Celebrate. This book has put some things into perspective for me as I pursue rebuilding my life and change direction. Scott Hamilton has done this several times in his life time and his attitude is amazing. There is no bitterness, anger, regret, or a sense of being a victim. That amazes me. It is easy to crawl under the bed and cry about all the problems and not do anything. It takes a lot of strength, determination, and God’s spirit to get up, brush the dust off, and keep moving forward. There are no excuses, everyone has issues, whether it is mental, physical, or emotional, we all have obstacles that we allow to stop up from pursuing and living our best lives. I don’t want to be like that. I want to be a conqueror like God called us to be.
I recommend this book to all the chronic babes out there whether a woman or a man. We all need encouragement and inspirational people and Scott Hamilton is one of these.
