I’m not much for football. Although, I have several friends, both male and female who love the game. I have never played it and I don’t enjoy watching it. I do however appreciate the training these athletes receive. It is intense. In Todd Gerelds book Always Fall Forward he takes what he learned from his father and coach Tandy Gerelds from the Movie and book Woodlawn and make a great 52 week devotional.
I believe this would be a great devotional for the young teenage boy who is playing football and is learning how to be a man and athlete. It would also remind the grown man, who has played football or who appreciates the game too.
Although, I’ve never played and I don’t enjoy the game I did garner some great insight into the wisdom that Coach Tandy offered his players. This book is full of tidbits on what it means to be a god fearing athlete. I wish I could send every football player in the USA this book, but I can’t afford this. It is not always about winning, it is about how the game is played. It is hard to remember that when winning is all you care about.
