I was given the opportunity to read Restore by Vince Antonucci. I wasn’t sure what I would be reading about, but the title intrigued me. I’m glad that I have read this book. Here is why. My focus word for 2018 is rebuild. I know rebuilding something is often times challenging and bad habits, problems, and chaos often erupt from changing or reconstructing something new. I still felt a need and a deep knowing in my heart and soul from God that I must rebuild. This book takes the whole 12 step program from AA and takes it in a deeper place so you can rebuild habits and heal your past.
In reading further, Antonucci talks about forgiveness. I’m going to quote something he says in the book. “Forgiveness is releasing my hope for a better past. Forgiveness is releasing my right to retaliate.” He is right. I know that I have a preconceived notion about forgiveness. One of those notions is that I am making it okay that the other person hurt me, but that is not true. I have known this for a long time, yet, I am appreciative of Antonucci that he takes it deeper and explains it in plain language so that my heart can hear and heal it.
If you want to rebuild old habits, forgive, move forward then this is a great book to go through.
