As someone who is a chronic illness warrior I love reading inspirational and comforting books by authors who struggle and thrive with their chronic illness. In Sarah Forgrave’s comforting book Prayers for Hope and Healing that is exactly what I am getting. Although, this book is not a devotional type book, I choose to read a chapter a day as a devotional. Part of my self-care is reading inspirational and devotional material before I start my day, even before my caregiver comes at 8 in the morning. This allows me to be set in a positive mindset for my day.
The chapters are short, but filled with comfort and encouragement for the warrior. The scriptures are comforting and encouraging. Reading the verses and the prayer is like balm to my soul.
This book would be great as a Christmas gift, or a gift for someone who is in the hospital or recovering from any type of illness or injury. It is the perfect size, not heavy, not hard to hold onto. The cover is beautiful with the purple flowers.
This month has been rough for me. The inflamation in my trachea is back and it has spread to my right leg. I am in pain. I’ve been sharing the scriptures at the beginning of each chapter on my Facebook page, I use the Tree of Life version of the Bible. I feel like the words are salve to my soul and help me to be in a better set of mind and able to be kind despite my pain. This is a great gift for someone. (Just saying, since it is close to Christmas).
