In exchange for my review of The Wellness Revelation by Alisa Keeton by Tynsdale Publishing. The opinions I express are my own and I have not been influenced.
I have grown tired of diet books telling me how to move my body and what to eat. I feel as though they are missing an important element, the emotional and spiritual side of wellness. When I saw “The Wellness Revelation” by Alisa Keeton offered I thought do I want to put myself through the pain of failure and being made to feel like a pathetic loser because I couldn’t physically do what the authors said I had to do to be healthy. I am happy to say that this book and plan does not make me feel this way. I have been diving into my heart and finding answers to the emotional pain that has caused me to be comforted by food instead of Jesus.
Here is what I love:
- Keeton not only talks about food and exercise, but the other key pieces of the pie, she includes emotional and our spiritual sides.
- There are no crazy restrictions, only white flour, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and alcohol. She calls them low octane foods. Our goal is to eat high octane foods.
- I love that she focuses on renewing our minds as we start taking care of our temple.
I am on week four and I have lost five pounds. After each reading there are some in depth questions that lead me to dive deeper and not being superficial. I have a lot of fear. Because of my tracheal stenosis I worry about how much I can move without being in danger of losing oxygen. Because of the questions and journaling about them in my journal I discovered I have fears and I wasn’t trusting God to take care of my body. My though was I am sick, why should I eat well or move. That is not right thinking at all. I have four more weeks and I look forward to other things I will discover.
I recommend this book and the eight week plan. Taking care of our bodies whether we are a chronic illness warrior or just want to be healthy. This will help you make strong and long lasting changes.
