In exchange for my review I was given a free copy of Rick Hamlin’s Pray For Me by Faith Words. The opinions I express Re my own and were not influenced.
Rick Hamlin’s memoir “Pray For Me: Finding Faith in a Crisis” touched my heart and reminded me of my own crisis in 2010 when I spent one month in the hospital. I remember being tethered to the bed, having oxygen, a tracheotomy, and having to learn how to swallow and walk again. This was my first tracheotomy and now I have a permanent one.
I love that Hamlin is open about his suffering, concerns, doubts, and healing. I especially appreciate his willingness to talk about his depression and the lack of hope that comes and goes. This is a powerful story.
I enjoy memoirs where people share their healing, not only the good parts of healing, but the painful and ugly parts too. For me it validates my own healing journey and it allows me to view it through someone else’s eyes.
I believe people who enjoy reading memoirs and want a confirmation on the powerfulness of prayer should read Hamlin’s book.
