In exchange for my review I was given a free copy of “Education A La Carte” by Dr. Kevin Leman by Revell. The opinions I express are my own and I was in no way influenced.
Choosing a good school, better yet, how to be a supportive parent and at the same teach your chikd basic life and relationship skills seems daunting, overwhelming, but in the end worth it.
As I read Dr. Kevin Leman’s book “Education A La Carte” I kept thinking about the many types of parents I have seen in my 43 years. I am not a parent, however, I am an aunt. With my role of aunt to my siblings and friends children I want and am a support to the parents in whatever style they have chosen. Each set of parents have made their own choices for how they would nurture their children into adults. That includes the children’s education. It is a tough choice. I wish I could have shared this book with them Most of my nieces and nephews are adults.
I love the fact that Leman goes into depth about the different choices for your child’s education. I also respect the numerous times he states through out the book that the parents are the best teachers for their children. That parent should not cast off their responsibility onto the school teachers to educate only. It is a team effort. I also like that the pro’s and con’s of each option is stated.
I think every new and older parents should read and be an active parent. This book promotes being active in rearing children into being kind, responsible, and God fearing adults.
