In exchange for my review I was given a free copy of Katie Davis Majors book “Daring to Hope: Finding God’s Goodness in the Broken and the Beautiful” by Blogging for Books. The opinions I express are my own and I was not influenced.
Katie Davis Major’s book “Daring to Hope: Finding God’s Goodness in the Broken and the Beautiful” couldn’t have come at a better time. I am fighting a cold and with a trach its a challenge. In fact, I cheered for Simon in this book who had a trachea issue and he was healed. My heart smiled for this book. I have a subglottic stenosis so this touched my heart.
Major’s heart for people is apparent with how she approaches her mission. Reading stories of women helping, loving, and nurturing a community inspires me. Her realness about the disappointments, the heartaches, deaths, and the pain allows me to connect with her. I struggle with these same things and it helps to read about someone with the same struggle and how she walked with God through it.
I cannot imagine moving to Uganda, adopting 13 girls, helping many with nourishment of body, soul, and spirit, and rebuilding a life in a different cultural. What a courageous woman.
I believe anyone would be inspired by this book. Its worth the read.
