Happiness, when you have a chronic illness it seems like an impossible defeat. Although Lee’s book is not geared towards those of us who have chronic illness. I still learned a great many things. Even her suggestions were helpful, at least for me they were. They reminded me of some key things in my life that I would do to thank Jesus for things, to express my happiness to those around me, and even to be content in who I am in Jesus.
Here are some key things I learned and want to share with you:
- I don’t know how to express myself when someone else can move their bodies or eat or do many things that I cannot do anymore since I have gotten sick. It used to drive me crazy. Until I discovered that I cannot compare myself to someone else.
- We all have our own happiness style and that is what makes us unique. I discovered that I’m mostly a thinker at 46 points and the next one is relater, then giver, then experience, and then doer. I love the fact that is states the positives and the red flags for all of those things. I saw myself. You can take your own assessment test at thehappinessdare.com
- There are 4 thoughts that get in the way of our happiness. These include, “This is just the way I am”, If I could just be like her or him”, my life circumstances make happiness an impossible dream”, and If only I had ___”.
- There are four key things you can do to start working towards your type of happiness. Lee gives some awesome suggestion. I’m doing a few of them myself.
