Since the last week of April until June 2nd every Tuesday I have been going to a class called “Living Well with Chronic Conditions”. If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you have seen a few quotes that I have posted from the book “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” put out my Stanford University.
I was given a book called “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions” by Kate Lorig and several other doctors from Stanford. This book is thick and more like a text book. Inside is valuable information. Inside are tools that will help the individual reading it to be a proactive patient. Each chapter has a section that has books and other tools that you can find on-line to help you learn and be a proactive person in your own care.
What did I learn? I learned that I need to become even more proactive in my care than I already am. Meaning, that a schedule will help me succeed in the projects that I want to do. Getting good quality sleep will help me achieve many daily goals that I have for myself, including exercising, eating right, and engaging with the public. I’m not at my full capacity yet, but I know with what I have learned from this class and book that I am heading in the right direction. Small steps! Isn’t that what they say? I am slowly walking towards my goals and it feels good. Anyone who is suffering from a chronic condition I hope you will take the “Living Well With Chronic Conditions” class. And Longview/Kelso and Cowlitz County, Wellness Works NW and I are working on a way to get this class to you guys. That is one of my biggest goals. I will keep you posted.
It was a great class! Thanks for inviting Karen and I to share it with you. We have new tools! Yeah! Go us!
