Just a disclaimer. I am not a doctor, nurse, or nutritionist. I am writing this post and many others with my own understanding and opinions and what has worked for me and what doesn’t. If you have questions ask a qualified health professional.
I have been taking probiotics this past week. I am on an antibiotic and that is why I have chosen to take a probiotic along with it. Since the last time I took an antibiotic I contracted C-Diff. I knew that it would be in my best interest to get some of the good bacteria back into my gut. Here are some things I am realizing on the nutrition aspect of my focus words.
For one thing, I have not felt hunger in years and years. Probably not since I began getting sick and having to take immune suppressant drugs in order to combat my symptoms. Now, I am feeling hunger. I have only begun taking probiotics Monday. It feels strange to me. I am also noticing that I am not gorging myself on food like I used to either. I am realizing this could be to the fact that I wasn’t getting any nutritional value of the foods that I have been eating. I eat it, but it just went straight through my body and into the toilet. Probiotics break down the food into smaller nutritional pieces so that body can absorb all the good stuff. I have been missing out.
Right now, I am dealing with Bronchitis and a congested chest. I am resting a ton. I am sure I will notice more things as I continue to take probiotics. I have made a decision. Probiotics in pill form will be my new normal for me. I take Vitamin D3 and Folic Acid, so what is adding another pill to the mix. Especially if that pill will help my gut heal and help me lose more weight. The funny thing is I feel lighter in my gut too.
I believe that my gut stopped functioning and I know it will take some time to heal up. I think I’m on the right path. I’m thankful that I found a brand that isn’t too expensive and is GMO free, soy free, gluten free, sugar free, and other fillers free too.
Yet again, another piece to the puzzle of the focus words I have chosen to focus on this year. Are you taking probiotics? If so, how has it helped you?
