“What You Can When You Can” by Roni Noone and Carla Birnberg gave me a ton to think about on my journey to health and well-being. What I love about reading Noone’s and birnberg’s book is that they suggest that by making small everyday choices one can have a healthy lifestyle.
One of the suggestions in this delightful book was finding reasons to get up and move throughout the day. I’ve been contemplating this exact thing the last couple of weeks. I have been watching one of my neighbors who is down in the rec room using the internet service like I do. He gets up every so often and goes and lift weights for ten minutes. Just to be doing something other than looking at the computer screen. I’ve been noticing it. I’ve been thinking that is something I can do. Not the lifting weights part. Lifting weights scares me. I’m afraid that I would hurt myself seriously if I did something like that. I’ve been thinking in my mind, what kind of movement would I do for the ten minutes? I’m thinking the wall presses that my Pt Therapist gave me or even the leg lifts while standing.
Another excellent point that the ladies make in their book is how comparing ourselves to others is not conducive to our own health. I have to admit that I compare myself a lot to others. That causes me to say forget about it and go back to old unhealthy habits. I hate it. I feel like a failure.
This book is inspiring. I plan on checking out the WYCWYC page and seeing what they are all about. The authors each have their own blogs. Read this book, be inspired to take small steps towards being your best healthy self. I know I am.
