Moving has been one of the things that I have missed since I’ve started my healing journey with my Vasculitis 5 years ago. Since my first surgery in 2009 until my last one July 24, 2014 I have been dreaming about moving my body. This last surgery gave me more information about my endurance than I ever thought. I have a smaller trachea than the average person. A normal average trachea is the size of a man’s thumb, mine is naturally a size of a pinky. I’ve always had issues with my endurance. I constantly compared myself to others endurance levels. I always felt deflated when I never measured up. How could I when I have a smaller trachea?
HIIT It! By Gina Harney is a book that I deeply enjoyed a lot. She talks about interval training, which is something I have no information about until recently. When my physical therapist started me on a journey of interval training by giving me exercises I can do at home to slowly build up my endurance. I will be going back to this method as soon as I get my okay from my doctor. It was nice getting more in depth information about it. I learn by seeing and hearing and reading the information.
Another great aspect of this book was the small tidbits on food choices that are better nutritionally for our bodies. I fail at giving by body all the nutrients that it needs. I aim to do better at this as I work through my challenges. I know having nutrient dense foods helps my body so much when I get my chemo treatments for my disease and even the heavy duty medications I have to take to keep my white blood cells under control.
If you want to know more about interval training this is the book for you. Check it out.
