Little House on the Prairie gave my heart joy as I read them when I was a young girl. So when I found the Laura Ingalls Wilder biography I knew I needed to read it. Just my luck a copy of this book was on the giveaway table.

Laura

Reading about Laura’s life with her entire family felt familiar to me. I was reminded of the TV series I watched as a young girl and the books I devoured. Little House series and the Anne of Green Gables series were my favorite books. I felt a kindred spirit with Laura as I did with Anne. With Laura it was her spunky go get them attitude and tom boyish ways. Nothing was going to get in her way. I was the same way. With Anne, it was being an orphan at 13 years of age and living with a new family and way of life. I was orphaned at 13 and went to live with another family before I had my forever home. Pioneer women, strong women, and determined women spoke of a theme of survival and doing what you needed to despite being afraid. I hope every little girl gets to read The Little House series and The Anne of Green Gables series. I hope you my dear reader read this book or set of books and feel the fighting spirit so that you can fight and value who you are.
