Esther Blum’s book “Cavewomen Don’t Get Fat” explains the Paleo eating plan and what it all entails along with scientific facts. I have been reading about and hearing about the Paleo eating plan for a while and I have been curious to if it would help me with my inflammation issues and my weight issues.
What I like the best is her explanation on high fructose corn syrup on the body and why we should avoid this as much as possible. From my own experience with it raising my uric acid levels and causing me gout in my already problem areas in my right foot I believe. I have been cutting out fructose as much as possible and my right foot is so much better.
I have been shying away from trying out an eating plan, because of my own fears and thinking, but if I am to start living and start promoting my own health then I have to consider this.
The premise of a Paleo eating plan is getting rid of the grains in your diet, such as wheat, rice, and other gluten grains and also getting rid of dairy except for eggs. I am ready to give up cheese. I realize I eat way too much of this dairy produce. The sugar, such as cookies, ice cream will not be an issue for me. It is the dairy, especially the cheese. Paleo promotes vegetables, especially the crucifix vegetables and eating fruit and lean proteins and high quality fats that you find in nuts, avocados, and olive oil and coconut oil.
Trying this for 30 days and see how my body handles this will help me decide if this is a plan that I will be able to live with and if it will propel me further onto my healing journey. I know the medications I take for my Vasculitis disease is helping with my inflammation issues. Anything I can do help my medications work
better and launch me into healing of my body is something I am willing to do.
