I liked reading Ester Nicholson’s book “Soul Recovery”. I found some great tools that I can use while I am journaling. One of the insightful perspectives I found was viewing oneself as one with God, God is within us. He is not some force outside of us. I have been aware of this in my own self-discovery journey and it was nice to be reminded of it.
Ester’s and mine journeys are different in that I am walking down a path of getting physically healthy as well as spiritually healthy with my disease that still has no name and is attacking my body. Thankfully now I am in a regiment that is helping me find balance so I can function and be vibrant again. But she and I are similar too, in that I use food to sooth my emotions or to keep me entertained. I never did hardcore drugs, smoked, or even drank, but addiction is addiction and the same emotional garbage still impacts us. Just the substances are different.
I am still processing through all that I read in “Soul Recovery” but don’t let that frighten you away. It is well worth a read especially when you are on your own eye opening journey of wellness, no matter what kind it is. If you are ready to be challenged and real with yourself and God and face the beast part of you, then this book is definitely for you. I know I found it helpful in getting me another step closer to where I want to be.
