“A Course In Weight Loss” Marianne Williamson
Williamson looks at weight loss and health in a spiritual way. Loving you, before you can shed the pounds she believes and is probably correct you must learn to live in love with the body you have now being a fat ass and all. I like that concept. I like the fact that she has you write a love letter to your fat self from your thin self. It took me a week to get up the courage to write that letter, but I did it and my eyes were open up to why I have such a weight issue. It is because of all the pain I am harboring in my heart and soul from the trauma’s I have experienced. Allowing God to heal that trauma that pain is the first major step in moving forward towards health and each lesson reflects that showing love and allowing the love of God to transcend in your life.
There are 21 lessons; each lesson is a deep personal journey that must not be taken lightly. I bought this book three years ago, started it, and just recently picked it up again. I was not ready. One does have to be ready to do the deep surgical transformation that happens when God becomes a part of your life. I was not ready, I was now and it was my time. I don’t know if this will help me with losing weight, but it did help me to view things from a new perspective. Not depriving myself of the things that I love, such as cheese, but eating it in small quantities is not going to kill me. Choosing healthy options is a beautiful loving choice to make for your body, but sometimes that loving choice is to allow yourself that small treat and then after you consume it beat yourself up for eating it. Guilt and shame are not a part of love or a part of God’s love for me or anyone.
Even if you do not want to lose weight, but want to move deeper in knowing God, experiencing the love of God, and seeing it from a new perspective then I highly recommend this book. Be prepared for a deep rendering of the old negative patterns of your thought life and actions to be ripped asunder.
