I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to be reading about when I was offered Justice Calling by Palmer Chinchen. The title intrigued me. When I received the book in the mail my first impression was a long lecture about what I was doing wrong and that I am a bad person because I didn’t do more. I hate books that do that. I don’t like having my emotions manipulated. My first impression was wrong. Justice Calling was not what I expected.
Here are some key things that I took from reading Chinchen’s book:
- Dreams gives us a sense of direction. They inspire us to keep on going towards things. God uses them to give our lives purpose.
- Jesus gives us limitless possibilities. I find it strange that this is the 5th book I have read this year talking about possible. I love has Jesus works.
- God doesn’t want us to procrastinate. We are to seize the day. Live a daring life.
- Authentic faith means being willing to explore new ideas and to celebrate the vastness of God and the limitless possibilities.
- Be real. No one wants a fake around.
- In order to have reconciliation between races we need to walk with the oppressed in their pursuit of justice.
- We have ignored Jesus commandment to love our neighbors and that includes those of different races, cultures, and nationalities.
- Chinchen believes in order to restore racial relations 3 key things need to happen. I happen to agree with this. 1. Acknowledge we have problems. 2. Confess your role. 3. Commit to change
- Just knowing God’s word is not enough, we must put it into action.
- Be who you are. Don’t let other’s judgement and opinions matter to you or stop you from your calling from God.
Chinchen’s book is a call for us with the Christian belief to do more than just lips service with our faith in Jesus.
In exchange for my honest review of Justice Calling by Palmer Chinchen I was given a free copy by Howard Books. The opinions I express are my own.
